Ottawa (Canada), October 20, 2025: India’s High Commissioner to Canada, Dinesh Patnaik, has stressed that the threat posed by Khalistani groups in Canada is a domestic issue for Ottawa, rejecting claims that Indian diplomats were involved in criminal activities.
In an exclusive interview with CTV’s Question Period, Patnaik described allegations linking Indian officials to homicides and extortion in Canada as “preposterous and absurd”, adding that India is still awaiting concrete evidence from Canadian authorities.
Highlighting ongoing diplomatic engagement, he said discussions between New Delhi and Ottawa have centered on overall security concerns, including the influence of Khalistani groups in Canada.
“These are security scenarios where certain groups are causing disruption and creating challenges for law and order. How to manage these situations is a matter for Canadian authorities,” Patnaik told CTV host Vassy Kapelos.
