A tragic incident unfolded in Indonesia’s capital on Friday when an explosion rocked a mosque during congregational prayers, leaving dozens injured.
The blast occurred at a mosque located within a school complex in the Kelapa Gading area of North Jakarta. City Police Chief Asep Edi Suheri confirmed the incident, stating that dozens of people were rushed to the hospital following the explosion. The exact cause of the blast is currently under investigation.
According to Chief Suheri, 54 people have been hospitalized with injuries ranging from minor to severe, including burn wounds. Authorities are working to determine the circumstances that led to the explosion during the Friday prayers, a time when mosques are typically at their most crowded.
