Cornell University to Pay Trump Administration $60 Million in Settlement
ITHACA, NY – In a significant settlement, Cornell University has agreed to pay $60 million and accept the Trump administration’s interpretation of civil rights laws. This agreement will lead to the restoration of the university’s federal funding.
The President of Cornell University, Michael Kotlikoff, announced the settlement on Friday. He stated that the agreement would reinstate over $250 million in research funding that had been suspended by the government, while preserving the university’s academic freedom.
According to the terms of the settlement, the university will pay $30 million directly to the U.S. government. The remaining $30 million will be allocated for research projects related to American farmers.
