California (US), December 4, 2025, BNN Web Staff: A California physician, Dr. Salvador Plasencia, has been sentenced to 30 months in federal prison for supplying ketamine to Friends star Matthew Perry, becoming the first individual to be sentenced in connection with the actor’s fatal overdose.

Plasencia was among five people charged following a lengthy federal probe into the underground drug network in Hollywood that facilitated Perry’s access to the dissociative anaesthetic.

Perry, 54, was found dead at his Los Angeles residence in 2023 after long-term struggles with addiction and depression.

In court, the actor’s family urged the judge to impose a harsher sentence, describing Plasencia as the “most culpable” and expressing the emotional turmoil of watching someone repeatedly provide drugs to their loved one despite his vulnerabilities.
