Tehran (Iran), April 10, 2026, BNN Web Staff: Iran’s Supreme Leader, Mojtaba Khamenei, has issued a strong warning to the United States and Israel, stating that Tehran will not allow what he termed as “aggression” to go unanswered.
He asserted that Iran would pursue compensation for wartime losses and push for greater control over the strategic Strait of Hormuz during ongoing negotiations in Islamabad.
In a televised address, Khamenei declared that Iran had emerged victorious in the recent West Asia conflict, praising the resilience of the Iranian people and the armed forces.
He said the nation had successfully withstood external pressure and demonstrated strength on both military and diplomatic fronts.
Reiterating Iran’s stance, he emphasized that accountability would be sought for the damage caused during the conflict.
This includes compensation for casualties, financial reparations, and support for those injured in the war. He also indicated that Iran intends to strengthen its position over the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil route.
Khamenei urged citizens to remain vigilant despite the announcement of a temporary ceasefire. He called on people to continue mobilising in public spaces, including streets and mosques, suggesting that public participation could influence the direction of ongoing negotiations.
Referring to the ceasefire as fragile, he cautioned that tensions remain high. The situation has been further complicated by continued Israeli strikes in southern Lebanon.
While Iran maintains that the region should be covered under the truce, both the United States and Israel have clarified that the ceasefire does not apply to operations targeting Hezbollah.
The divergence in interpretations has added uncertainty to diplomatic efforts, raising concerns that the already delicate ceasefire could unravel if hostilities persist.
