Washington, D.C (US), July 6, 2026, BNN Web Staff: US President Donald Trump has sparked fresh controversy after sharing a digitally altered image on his social media platform, Truth Social, depicting former President Barack Obama and former First Lady Michelle Obama boarding an Air Force One aircraft covered in graffiti.
The edited image shows the Obamas standing at the top of the aircraft stairs, waving as they prepare to board. The aircraft is defaced with graffiti carrying slogans such as “Yes We Can,” “Obama,” “BLM,” and the Arabic phrase “Alhamdulillah,” which translates to “Praise be to God.”
The post quickly drew attention online, adding to a series of social media controversies involving Trump since returning to office. Neither the White House nor representatives for the Obamas immediately commented on the latest post.
The development comes months after another controversial social media incident involving Trump’s Truth Social account. In February, a video depicting Barack and Michelle Obama as apes—a racist trope widely condemned in the United States—was deleted after facing bipartisan criticism.
At the time, the White House said the video had been mistakenly posted by a staff member and removed shortly afterward. Officials maintained that Trump was unaware of the post before it was published.
The earlier incident prompted strong reactions from lawmakers, including Republican Senator Tim Scott of South Carolina, who described the video as racist and publicly called for its removal.
The latest edited image has once again reignited debate over the use of provocative and manipulated content on social media by political figures. It also raises renewed questions about the role of digital platforms in amplifying altered images and political messaging.
The Obama image appeared alongside no additional explanation from Trump beyond the visual post itself. As of now, there has been no official response from Barack or Michelle Obama regarding the latest social media post.
