Tehran (Iran), August 31, 2026, BNN Web Staff: Iran’s Army on Monday claimed that it carried out drone strikes targeting helicopter and troop positions at the Al Minhad airbase in the United Arab Emirates, describing the action as retaliation for recent attacks on Iranian territory.
In a statement, the Iranian Army said it launched dozens of attack drones at what it described as US military positions at Al Minhad from early Monday morning.
The Army said the strikes were carried out in response to the deaths of Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps personnel and Iranian civilians on Larak Island.
Iranian state-affiliated media reported that Al Minhad is an important logistics facility used to support and transport foreign military forces. The Iranian Army also warned that it would continue taking measures to protect Iran’s national security until what it described as regional threats were neutralised.
The UAE Ministry of Defence, meanwhile, said its air-defence systems had intercepted an unmanned aerial vehicle over the country’s territorial waters after it approached from the direction of Iran.
The ministry said the UAE Armed Forces remained on a high state of readiness and that air-defence systems were continuously monitoring the country’s airspace. It also urged the public to rely on official sources and avoid spreading unverified information.
The reported development came amid a broader escalation involving Iran, the United States and Israel. Earlier on Monday, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed missile and drone attacks against the US King Hussein and Al-Azraq airbases in Jordan.
According to Iranian reports, the strikes targeted maintenance and fighter-aircraft infrastructure at the Jordanian facilities.
The escalation follows a US strike on two Iranian missile launchers on Larak Island on Sunday. US Central Command said Iranian forces had been observed preparing to launch rockets carrying sea mines into the Strait of Hormuz, and described the US operation as an effort to protect commercial shipping through the strategic waterway.
The IRGC reported that military personnel and civilians were killed in the Larak Island operation and attributed the attack to US and Israeli forces.
