Beijing [China], April 15, 2026, BNN Web Staff: China has strongly rejected allegations that it is providing military assistance to Iran, calling such reports “fabricated” and cautioning United States against taking punitive trade measures based on these claims.

Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Lin Jian dismissed the reports on Wednesday, stating that Beijing would respond firmly if Washington imposes tariffs over the issue.

In a post on X, he said the accusations lack any factual basis and warned of countermeasures in case of escalation.

The remarks come amid heightened tensions following statements by US President Donald Trump, who indicated that China could face serious consequences if it extends military support to Tehran.

Trump also noted that he has not directly communicated with Chinese President Xi Jinping on the matter but expressed hope for an end to ongoing conflicts in the region.

Addressing reporters, Trump reiterated concerns over nuclear proliferation, stating that such capabilities should not fall into the hands of groups with a history of instability.

Meanwhile, diplomatic engagement between Washington and Beijing appears to be back on track. Trump confirmed that his previously delayed visit to China has been rescheduled for May 14–15 in Beijing.

He also indicated plans for a reciprocal visit by Xi Jinping to the US later this year, signalling continued high-level dialogue despite rising geopolitical strains.
