Canberra, November 29, 2025, BNN Web Staff — In a quietly planned affair at his official residence, The Lodge, Australia’s Prime Minister Anthony Albanese married long-time partner Jodie Haydon, making him the first sitting Australian prime minister to wed while in office.

The ceremony — described as intimate and private — was attended by close family and friends, including several senior government ministers. The couple, who had been together for five years, exchanged personal handwritten vows under a celebrant from New South Wales’ Central Coast.

Haydon was walked down the aisle by her parents to the tune of The Luckiest by Ben Folds, and their five-year-old niece served as flower girl; the PM’s dog — a beloved cavoodle named Toto — was the ring bearer.

The couple later walked down the aisle to Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I’m Yours) by Stevie Wonder and planned to honeymoon in Australia in the days following the ceremony.

In a joint statement, the newlyweds said they were “absolutely delighted” to begin their lives together as husband and wife, surrounded by loved ones and close friends.
