Washington DC (US), April 15, 2026, BNN Web Staff: United States Vice President JD Vance has reiterated that Iran will not be allowed to acquire nuclear weapons, stressing that ongoing negotiations are aimed at enforcing this red line while pursuing a broader diplomatic agreement.

Speaking at an event hosted by Turning Point USA at the University of Georgia, Vance said President Donald Trump has clearly set the policy and is pushing for what he described as a “grand bargain” with Tehran rather than a limited deal.

He noted that current talks between Washington and Tehran have shown progress, with a temporary ceasefire holding for nearly a week. However, Vance emphasised that the administration is aiming for a comprehensive agreement that not only curbs Iran’s nuclear ambitions but also addresses broader regional concerns.

According to Vance, the US is offering Iran a pathway to normal economic relations if it alters its behaviour, including stepping away from alleged support for militant activities and integrating more fully into the global economy.

He added that while discussions—reportedly including engagements in Pakistan—have advanced, a final deal has yet to be reached because the US is seeking long-term guarantees on nuclear restrictions and regional stability.

The remarks come amid ongoing diplomatic efforts in West Asia, with Trump indicating that he does not see a need to extend the current ceasefire b
