Iran President Calls for ‘Islamic Assembly of the Middle East’, Urges Unity Amid Rising Tensions

Tehran, March 21, 2026, BNN Desk Staff : Amid escalating tensions in West Asia, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has called for the creation of an “Islamic Assembly of the Middle East,” stressing that Iran does not seek conflict with neighbouring Islamic nations.

In a message issued on the occasion of Nowruz and Eid al-Fitr, Pezeshkian emphasised that regional countries must come together to resolve their differences and avoid external interference. He asserted that Iran has no intention of destabilising the region or interfering in the internal affairs of other nations.

The President also extended condolences following recent attacks, including the reported killing of Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, amid ongoing hostilities involving Iran, Israel, and the United States.

Pezeshkian criticised Israel, accusing it of contributing to instability, violence, and unrest in the region. He urged neighbouring countries not to “fall into traps set by enemies” and instead work collectively to ensure peace and security.

Reiterating Iran’s stance, he said the country considers other Muslim nations as “brothers” and is ready to resolve disputes through dialogue.
He also proposed the development of a regional Islamic security framework to strengthen cooperation in political, economic, and cultural spheres.

“There is no need for foreign presence in the region. Together, we can ensure peace and stability,” he said, adding that unity and solidarity are essential to overcoming current challenges.

The remarks come as tensions in West Asia continue to rise, with the conflict involving Iran, Israel, and the United States entering a critical phase, raising concerns over broader regional stability.
