New Delhi, October 11, 2025: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar met US Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor on Saturday at the Ministry of External Affairs in New Delhi, where they discussed the evolving India-US relationship and its significance on the global stage.
Sharing the meeting on X, Jaishankar said, “Pleased to meet Ambassador-designate Sergio Gor of the US today in New Delhi. Discussed the India-US relationship and its global significance. Wish him the best for his new responsibility.”
Gor, who has recently arrived in India, is expected to formally present his credentials at a later date, according to the US Embassy.
Earlier in the day, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri also met Gor, highlighting their discussions on the India-US Comprehensive Global Strategic Partnership and shared priorities. MEA spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal tweeted that the Foreign Secretary wished the Ambassador-designate success in his new role.
This marks the second interaction between Jaishankar and Gor, following their meeting during the United Nations General Assembly session in New York on September 24, where both leaders explored ways to deepen the strategic partnership between the two nations.
During his Senate confirmation hearing on September 12, Gor had emphasized the “deep friendship” between US President Donald Trump and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing it as a key driver in advancing bilateral cooperation.
The meetings underscore both countries’ commitment to furthering collaboration across strategic, economic, and global issues, reinforcing the strong and growing India-US partnership.
