Ahead of his much-anticipated meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping on Thursday, US President Donald Trump expressed optimism, saying he expected a “very good outcome” from the talks.

Speaking to reporters aboard Air Force One en route to South Korea on Wednesday, Trump said the meeting with Xi was “the one that most people find most interesting,” adding, “I think we’re going to have a great meeting with President Xi of China, and a lot of problems are going to be solved.”

The US President emphasized that his administration had been in active communication with China in preparation for the summit. “We’re not walking into the meeting cold. Our relationship with China is very good,” he said. “I think the outcome will be beneficial not just for our country but for the world.”

The meeting in South Korea marks the first encounter between Trump and Xi since 2019, and global observers are closely watching for any diplomatic breakthroughs.

Meanwhile, as Trump arrived in South Korea ahead of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) summit, North Korea announced that it had test-fired sea-to-surface strategic cruise missiles in the Yellow Sea on Tuesday.

According to Yonhap News Agency, Trump has signaled willingness to reengage in dialogue with North Korean leader Kim Jong Un, even suggesting he might extend his stay in South Korea. However, Pyongyang has yet to respond to these overtures.
