Washington DC (US), April 17, 2026, BNN Web Staff: Donald Trump has claimed that Iran has agreed to hand over what he described as “nuclear dust” to the United States, suggesting progress in ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at curbing Tehran’s nuclear ambitions.
Speaking outside the White House, Trump said the understanding forms part of broader assurances from Iran that it will not pursue nuclear weapons.
He stressed that preventing Iran from developing such capabilities remains a central objective of his administration.
According to Trump, the material in question is located deep underground and became a concern following earlier US military actions involving B-2 bombers.
He indicated that both sides are moving towards a potentially positive outcome, with multiple areas of agreement already in place.
The remarks come at a time when Washington and Tehran are engaged in delicate negotiations to stabilise tensions in West Asia. A fragile ceasefire is currently holding, though uncertainty remains over whether it will be formally extended.
Trump signalled optimism about the pace of talks, suggesting a new round of negotiations could take place as early as the weekend. He also hinted that a successful agreement might make extending the ceasefire unnecessary.
Highlighting broader economic indicators, Trump pointed to stable markets and easing oil prices as signs that a deal could be within reach.
He reiterated that any final agreement would ensure Iran remains without nuclear weapons.
