Florida [US], October 18, 2025: US President Donald Trump on Friday said that during his meeting with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy, he urged both sides to bring the ongoing war to an immediate halt to prevent further loss of life.

Speaking to reporters, Trump said the primary focus of the meeting was to “save lives” and stop the daily bloodshed.

“I met President Zelenskyy today — it was a very cordial and productive discussion. I told him the war should stop right away, right at the current battle line. Both sides should return home, reunite with their families, and end the killing. I conveyed the same message to President Putin,” Trump said.

The US President added that NATO’s support, including ammunition supplies, was part of a broader effort aimed at peace. “We’re not losing people or spending our own money; NATO is covering the cost of ammunition and missiles. But that’s not the point — our goal is to save thousands of lives every week,” he emphasized.

Trump also mentioned that First Lady Melania Trump was deeply affected by the suffering of children in the conflict zones. “She feels very strongly about the plight of children. She’s done remarkable work in highlighting their suffering — she thinks about them constantly,” he said.

During his remarks, Trump incorrectly claimed that India would stop purchasing Russian oil. “India will no longer be buying oil from Russia. Hungary faces a different challenge due to its pipeline dependence, but India has decided to stop,” he said.

Trump further indicated that another round of talks involving Russian President Vladimir Putin and President Zelenskyy could take place soon. “Most likely, there will be another joint meeting. I’ve come to know President Zelenskyy well — he’s a strong leader who has endured a lot. I believe we are making solid progress,” he added.
