Washington, D.C. – In a significant and unprecedented move, the U.S. Department of State has dismissed an American diplomat solely for concealing a romantic relationship with a Chinese woman who is reported to have direct ties to China’s ruling Communist Party.

This marks the first time a U.S. diplomat has been removed from their post for this specific reason. The action is based on a rule implemented in the final days of the Biden administration. This regulation prohibits any U.S. government employee, their family members, or contractors with security clearances stationed in China from engaging in romantic or sexual relationships with Chinese citizens.

What Did the State Department Say?

Addressing the matter, State Department spokesman Tommy Pigott confirmed that the diplomat was terminated for deliberately hiding the relationship. He stated that both President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio reviewed the case before the decision was made to take action.

Pigott further emphasized, “Under the leadership of Secretary Rubio, we will maintain a zero-tolerance policy for any employee who compromises our national security.”

Although the diplomat’s identity has not been officially released, he and his girlfriend were featured in a secretly recorded video that was posted online by the prominent conservative journalist James O’Keefe.
