Washington DC (US), November 25, 2025-BNN Web Staff: United States President Donald Trump has announced a landmark national programme that aims to use artificial intelligence to accelerate major scientific advancements.

On Monday, Trump signed an executive order creating “The Genesis Mission”, a new initiative designed to push the boundaries of AI-driven research.

The programme is part of the administration’s wider push to boost AI innovation through reduced regulatory barriers, stronger infrastructure and expanded cooperation between government, industry and academia.

The executive order instructs Energy Secretary Chris Wright to bring together researchers and technologies across all 17 U.S. national laboratories, forming a unified research ecosystem.

As outlined in the order, the mission will merge the nation’s top supercomputers and government data systems into a single “closed-loop AI experimentation platform” intended to speed up discovery.

Drawing comparisons to the historic Apollo programme, the White House said the initiative will prioritise breakthroughs in high-impact fields such as nuclear fusion, semiconductor technology, critical minerals and space research.

Michael Kratsios, the President’s chief science adviser, described the mission as a transformative step in scientific exploration. He said the effort would combine “the best of American AI with unparalleled scientific datasets to push forward discoveries in medicine, energy, materials and more.”

Tech giants are already joining the effort. Nvidia and AI company Anthropic confirmed on Monday that they will collaborate with the administration.

In a statement, Nvidia said the project would link national laboratories, industry leaders and academic institutions, integrating supercomputers, cutting-edge AI platforms and emerging quantum technologies into what it called “the most complex scientific instrument ever assembled.”

According to the company, this unified system is expected to accelerate progress across national security, energy innovation and fundamental scientific research.
