New Delhi, June 13, 2026, BNN Web Staff: The Iranian Embassy in India has strongly dismissed US President Donald Trump’s allegations linking Iran to attacks on an Indian vessel in the Strait of Hormuz, calling the claims “baseless” and accusing Washington of trying to divert attention from recent incidents involving Indian-linked ships.

In a statement posted on social media platform X, the Embassy of Iran alleged that US forces had attacked three Indian vessels within a span of less than a week, leading to the deaths of three Indian sailors. The embassy described the incidents as “brutal” and termed the accusations against Iran an attempt to shift public focus from the fatalities.

“The US president’s accusation against Iran regarding an Indian vessel in the Strait of Hormuz is simply baseless. It is an attempt to divert public attention from the brutal fact that the US has attacked three Indian vessels in less than a week and killed three innocent Indian sailors,” the embassy stated.

The remarks came after Trump alleged that Iran was responsible for attacks on vessels carrying Indian crew members near the Strait of Hormuz. He described the incidents as “totally unacceptable,” despite reports that the US Central Command had acknowledged the strikes were conducted by American naval forces.

Meanwhile, Iran’s Foreign Ministry also condemned the attacks on commercial vessels carrying Indian seafarers in the Gulf of Oman. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baqaei expressed condolences to the families of the deceased sailors and extended sympathies to the people and government of India.

Baqaei accused the United States of engaging in actions that threaten maritime security and international stability, urging the global community to hold Washington accountable for what he described as repeated violations of international norms and the freedom of navigation.

The exchange of accusations has further heightened tensions in the region, with the safety of commercial shipping and international maritime routes remaining a growing concern.
