Washington, D.C., November 2, 2025, BBN Web Staff: US President Donald Trump has announced the launch of the Genesis Mission, a large-scale national program aimed at accelerating scientific breakthroughs by integrating advanced artificial intelligence across America’s research ecosystem.

In a statement released by the White House, the initiative was described as a transformative step toward an AI-powered scientific future.

The mission seeks to unify and utilise the federal government’s extensive scientific data resources—considered the largest such collection globally—to train cutting-edge scientific foundation models and develop AI agents capable of testing hypotheses, automating research tasks and speeding up discovery.

According to the White House, the Genesis Mission will connect national laboratories, universities, private industry, data centres, manufacturing units and security facilities to build a unified AI platform.

The initiative is expected to significantly enhance national security, strengthen America’s technological edge, increase productivity, and maximise returns on federal research investments.

A key component of the initiative is the establishment of the American Science and Security Platform, which will offer secure access to federal datasets, advanced computing power, specialised foundation models and AI-enabled scientific tools.

The platform will rely on Department of Energy (DOE) supercomputers, secure cloud systems and high-performance AI environments to support large-scale simulations, experimentation and analysis.

The executive order directs the Department of Energy to identify at least 20 priority scientific and technological challenges within 60 days.

These areas will include advanced manufacturing, biotechnology, critical minerals, nuclear fission and fusion, quantum technologies and semiconductor development.

The Assistant to the President for Science and Technology (APST) will coordinate these priorities and oversee interagency collaboration through the National Science and Technology Council.

The mission will also rely on partnerships with universities, industry experts and external organisations with advanced AI and computing capabilities, ensuring secure and competitive research pathways.

The Secretary of Energy will lead the implementation of the Genesis Mission, with the option to appoint a dedicated senior official to manage daily operations.
